Chapter 28

"El Diablo" was so glad that Veronica could not be found. It was going to give him the chance to get where he needed to go. With the entire police force trying to find her, He knew that he had a very short amount of time before everyone started to figure things out. He did not know how he had gotten as far as he had in such a short amount of time. It amazed him that no one had picked up on all the signs that pointed towards him.
If the idiots had just put two and two together they would have seen the errors of their ways; they might have actually been able to save the final person on his list. As it stood now, he knew that both of the women were missing and that the entire police force was looking for him. He was confident that he was going to get away with it all. There was no possible way that he wasn’t.

As he was heading to Ms. Tillerman’s house, his heart started to beat a little faster and his hands started to sweat. He knew that he was getting excited with the anticipation of being able to carry out his final "cleansing." He wanted to make sure that he kept himself as calm as possible. It was not going to be easy to make sure that everything went according to plan.

He had planned out everything that he was going to say and do. He did not like to have any surprises. When there was a surprise that was when he was going to get caught. He wanted to make sure that he was able to complete the "cleansing" before he was caught. It was important to him that he was able to get everything done and then if it happened that he was caught by the police, there was nothing that he could do.
The pride that he felt from having already completed the four "cleansings" that he had done, was satisfying. He knew that this last one was going to be the icing on the cake. He already had taken care of the hard ones, this one was easy. He knew that she was not going to be able to defend herself because of her deteriorating eye site; this was in his favor. He did not know however how she was going to react when she realized who the killer was.

What he was really hoping for was surprise. He did not want her to know who he was and he did not think that she had any ideas yet; otherwise she would have gone to the police. His plan had worked out just the way that he has lined it out to work. She was not expecting him to come and hopefully she had not figured out what the connections were between him and the other victims.

When he arrived to the house of his final victim, he realized that he was not the first person to get to her. There are lights in the house and he can see shadows in the house. He realizes that there has been someone who has been watching him, but he really thought that they were not going to be doing anything other than just admiring his work. Maybe he was wrong; they wanted to try to take away from him this final "cleansing."
He could see the shadow of Ms. Tillerman walking around in the house and he was excited to realize that she was there and that if he played his cards right that he was going to be able to make her realize her past mistakes and have her pay for all the pain that he had had to go through for his entire life. He always wondered if she realized how much pain she had caused him. She had never been the type of person who had wanted to inflict pain on to another human being and yet she had done it.

The idea of being able to sit down with her and to hear why she had done the things that she did, was something that was very appealing to him. It did not mean that she was going to be able to change the course of action that was going to be happening to her, but at least he would have closure to his past; at least he thought that he would.

Once he was done with his "cleansing" he was planning on heading downtown and turning himself in. With all of the work done that he had planned out there would be no reason to continue to hide from them. Plus, he was really looking forward to seeing the look of surprise on their face when they realized that they knew who he was the entire time. He knew that it would be just as much of a thrill as it had been to kill and watch the media talk about him.

As he got ready to get out of the car, he looked down at his ankle. Even though he had not gotten it when the rest of them had gotten theirs, it still connected him to everyone else. The lion had given them a comradery that could not be taken away from them. It was one of the things that he had enjoyed showing to each of the members of his "family" just before he took care of them. The goal was to make sure that they all knew why this was happening to them and what they could have done to save themselves. None of them tried to change the path of their destiny once they realized who he was. He hoped that the same thing was going to happen with Milly. Once she saw who he was and what she had done to him, there was going to be no denying the fact that she was in the wrong and that this was the only way that it could be handled.

That was the one thing that he always like about "Mom," she had never tried to change the way things were going to happen. She was a firm believer that everything happened for a reason and that it was not her position to change things. They happened for a reason and once that was accepted then the better off everyone was going to be. It did not mean that he did not think that she should have tried to change the way things happened to him, but he respected her for that.

If he could make her realize that what he was having to do in order to take care of business, then she would understand that she had been in the wrong and should have done things differently. Not that she should have changed the way that things happened, but rather that she should have taken a different path and certain points in her life. If she had done that, none of this would have had to happen. He wanted to make sure that she knew that she was responsible for all of the deaths that had happen of the past few months.

It was the choices that she had made that had allowed this to happen. He was not the bad guy; in fact he was the best one out of them all. He realized the errors in her ways and was trying to take care of it. She should be grateful to him for doing this for her. It was something that she would never have been able to do on her own and therefore he needed to do it. The sooner she understood that, the sooner he could get on with his life. It had to happen now.

He got out of the car and started walking towards the house. It was then that he realized that he had made an error in judgement. It was so obvious once he realized it and he could not believe that he did not see it sooner. It would just mean that he was going to have to get rid of one other person before he got to the real last "cleansing" that he needed to do. That was fine by him, but it did irritate him because it was going out of order of what he had planned. That was the way things happened to him and he was just going to have to roll with the punches; and that is just what he was going to do.
